My dad has been doing construction around the house, and he has been inhaling a lot of dust. Last night, he experienced shortness of breath, and when he tried using this machine type thing used to help asthma patients breathe, he felt a lot better.

Could he be developing asthma? Is there any way to stop it while it's in its early stage?

I'm currently working in Africa and the city where I live is very polluted. This is affecting my already sensitive eyes a lot and they are permanantly red and irritated. I use Patinol eye drops, but it doesn't really seem to help with the redness and irritation. What else can I do?

I'm not sure if it's just a cold or the virus but I'm having horrible headaches, tired, coughing, sore throat, body ache, and having a horrible time breathing. I do have asthma which makes the breathing a lot worse. Just want some opinions on what to do. I want to stay home and wait it out and try to get over it alone but not sure if its the right thing to do.
FYI I'm not worried. I just wanted some opinions. Thank you to those who actually gave me a real answer.

I've really never understood this. Sometimes people will say oh you just need to go out in the sun and have something to occupy your time and that will make you feel better or something a long the lines of that. Other times people will have to be prescribed with an anti-depressant. So what's the deal with depression?

Also I have another question: Is it true that being really bored and not having a lot to do can lead to depression? And if so please explain.
