Is there anyway to get rid of asthma and allergies forever?

Well i am allergic to household pets like cats, dogs anything with fur.And since i got asthma i have been having allergic reaction and because of this i had to give me dog away.i love animals very much and want to own one again. Will my asthma and allergies stay with me forever?

How do you know if you still have asthma?

in my younger years i had really bad asthma had to use the machine and everything but now in recent years i hardly get attacks i don’t remember my last attack

it was usually triggered by allergies and sometimes exercise…. but now when running or playing sports i cant tell if im just short of breath like someone without a history of asthma would be or if its my asthma

is there any tests i can do to test it?

Is there any link, circumstantial or otherwise, between vaccinations and asthma?

I am wondering if anyone knows of any evidence out there that there may be a causative factor between the ‘normal’ childhood vaccinations and developing asthma in children.

What medications do you take for your asthma?

I take Zyrtec-D, Nasonex and Advair (250/50 once daily). I did take Singulair but stopped without any noticable changes to my allergies or peak flow/asthma. I also have an Albuterol Inhaler but haven’t used it since I started taking Advair in 10/2004. I also get allergy shots and have been for over 2 years. I was told to continue getting allergy shots for 4-5 years. I’ve heard allergy shots also help asthma - any truth to that? If so, could one stop taking Advair to see if it is still necessary? Just curious……
What tests are given to determine asthma? Can those tests determine how bad the asthma is? I have never been given any tests, just medication.

Asthma sufferers, what do you find gives you the greatest relief from asthma discomfort?

I have the type of asthma that feels like chest pressure. I use two different kinds of inhalers, albuterol and advair. They take care of the wheezing but the feeling of "weight" remains. Doc says I just need to take vicodin but I am not too happy about it. Any suggestions?
