How do I manage asthma and allergies?

I have always had asthma that is agrivated when I get sick. Well yesterday I went to the doctor because I was certain I had pneumonia. However, the doctor told me that it is my asthma and it was triggered by allergies.

I never want to feel this way again, especially without infection. Does anyone know a good way to manage allergies and asthma without using drugs that make you tired (benedryl) or have horrible side effects (prednisone)?

Thank you all.

What are the risks of getting allergy shots for people with severe allergies?

I am severely allergic to dust mites. In his thirty years of practice, my allergist says he's seen only two other people with a worse allergy. Initially he was leery of giving me allergy shots because I am so allergic, but now he is leaning towards it because I am not responding well to medications and my asthma is constantly aggravated. I certainly do not want to continue taking seven prescriptions a day for the rest of my life, but I'm worried about the risks of the shots. My allergist seems to feel they're worth it for the potential benefit, but I'm not certain. Has anyone with severe allergies had problems getting immunotherapy? Was it worth it in the end?

My allergy get really bad during the summer?

My allergies get real bad during the summer. I've had them all my life, recently I moved to Texas thinking it would help, but to no avail.
I've tried all the allergy medications there are. They work for about 2 weeks then their effects were off. I'm just tired of sneezing; my record for consecutive sneezes is 112. It sucks, anyone have a idea on how to make my situation better?

Can anyone recommend good natural treatment for asthma?

I thought that I had it pretty well under control but, unfortunately, it's kicked up BIG TIME this week. Possibly it's because I've started doing the Bob Beck blood electrification, it went really well the 1st 2 - 3 weeks but then BAM! I got sick as a dog from allergies and my asthma is awful!!

No need to tell me to lay off dairy products. I don't use dairy during allergy season.

How can I clear up my red eyes from allergies?

I am allergic to many seasonal things, both indoor and outdoor, like mold, pollen, dust, ragweed, etc. I started taking Zyrtec to control my nasal symptoms and it has helped immensely. However, my eyes are always slightly pink, and often become very red and itchy. My optometrist prescribed me Patanol eye drops, but they don't seem to be working. I have tried many over the counter versions as well such as Visine and Opcon, but they only work temporarily and my eyes are red again with a few hours. I also have contacts, and the drops are not supposed to be put in while you are wearing contacts which becomes quite a hassle particularly at work. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!
