Can dieting cause in any way a change in bowel movement?

In trying to bring my weight down, I have been cutting down on intake of calories and am experience irrregular bowel movement, once a day but at different hours. Feces appear normal.

Does having a bowel movement mean losing calories?

I’m not looking for an alternative to go to the gym. I do more than my fair share of exercise. I’m just wondering because people tend to lose weight either from purposely continuously taking laxatives or from a digestive disorder.

Should I continue to mix apple juice with water as a way of keeping my bowel movements regular?

Or is it okay to just drink a lot of water without the apple juice. I’ve been doing this for a long time, but I only recently just realized how much sugar and carbs and calories are in apple juice. I usually mix a pitcher of half water, half apple juice and drink it regularly. Do I even need the apple juice any more to keep me regular? Do you think it makes a difference or am I just taking in unnecessary sugars/carbs/calories?
