I believe they hooked her to an iv and gave her some medicine…Do u think she will still need surgery? She is passing stool.

Thank you for your responses.. I forgot to mention that this was a major obstruction that happened only 4 days post surgery, and they had to re enter the same site surgically to fix the obstruction.

I feel pressure in my abdomen, and I can’t go. I’m not in any pain, at least not yet. I tried dulcolax but so far it hasn’t done anything. Would mineral oil be a safe thing to try?

How long would she have to be in the hospital on the IV? without eating solids? Any average?

My 3 year old son had surgery to clear a bowel obstruction 11 days ago and still is unable to keep solids down for very long. Liquids are ok. He is also having some swelling issues that don't seem to be resolving.
I am looking for those of you with personal experience to answer this. We are still in the hospital with my 3 yr. old son post op and I am curious what others with similar surgeries experienced in terms of length of recovery. I HAVE asked his doctors, but as usual they are reluctant to give a time frame as every patient is different (especially kids). I was just wondering if I have taken enough FMLA leave or if I might need to extend it.
