What’s the best way to reduce the size of bowel movements?

Colon cancer and hemorroids run in my family. Both my father and grandfather had large bowel movements and so do I. I've thought about adding a fiber supplement to my diet to increase the frequency, and have also heard about fish oils…what's the real deal on how to reduce the risk of hemorroids and colon cancer?
Also, I only eat two meals a day and am slim with high-metabolism, so over-eating isn't a problem here. (Is metabolism even a factor?) I also don't drink. I've seen these shows on TV that say you're supposed to be having bowel movements all the time. I'm doing good to have one every other day.

Eat plenty of fiber (fruits and vegetables), but take out fats like red meats. Drink lots of water and get plenty of exercise. These will both help reduce the cancer and hemmoroid risks, plus will move your bowels enough to keep them small. Don't add a fiber supplement due to them making your bowels larger (they do me). Fruits and veggies are better.

Be sure to get tested (colonoscopy). If you haven't yet had a colonoscopy, get one now. Your doctor should recommend it since colon cancer is in your family. My doctor did and I had my first one when I was 38 (I'm 44 now). Colonoscopies will ensure you're clear and will catch any sign of cancer early enough to stop it. I know many people who got colon cancer, but died from it because it was found too late.

My father had colon cancer, but was caught early and he was cured due to having colonoscopies every year.

I have had hemmoriods and have them now.

The less you eat and avoid drinking.
I drink lot of beer and bleed every so often. When I cut back on the drinking the blood goes away.
Same thing when I eat less and eat health, not as much time in the restroom.

Getting at least 30 grams of fiber will cut your risk of colon cancer by a lot. I've also read somewhere that blueberrys are good for cutting the risk of colon cancer.

Drink a glass or two of prune juice. If you don't like the taste, A few glasses of Apple Juice will work too.

I had peri-anal surgery a few months ago, and it was necessary for me to not harm myself. After being on heavy laxatives for a number of weeks, I eventually decided that for maintenance purposes (mainly to prevent and heal hemorrhoids) I would continue taking one dose of Metamucil a day. If keeps bowel movements regular and smaller, without giving a sense of lost control or urgency.
