how do you make yourself do a bowel movement without changing anything about your diet?

i am on a special diet.
i can’t have laxatives or drink more water or eat more fiber or anything!
no coffee either
i am practically dying here of pain. i haven’t pooped in a week, and the stupid doc says i can’t have an enema.
i’ve been waking up at night cuz it feels like i need to go, but it never comes out.

exercise….and plenty of fluids….make sure your special diet you are on has enough fiber…like thru cereal, eating fruits with pulp….apples and oranges.

Can you have coffee?….alot of times the caffeine will jump start things….as well as having a regular routine….try to allow yourself to relax so that your body can do its job.

Yes I agree with trying suppositories…I had to do that with my daughter when she was little and it does work…at least it would give you some relief. Easy to do and hopefully you will get relief soon.

It doesn’t sound like a good diet. Regular (at least once a day) bowel movements are ESSENTIAL to good health. I don’t see when it would ever be necessary to concoct a diet that does not itself promote regularity.
Don’t use laxatives, they will destroy the nervous and muscular systems in your intestines, and then you’ll be cronically constipated untill you invest in some real healing.
You need fiber in your diet to add bulk and hold moisture. You need a good electrolyte balance, and there are herbs that you can take that can stimulate a sluggish bowel, and there are yoga poses that can help get your bowels moving. One thing to always do for the health of your colon to reduce strain and help with complete evacuation, is to squat on your toilet when having a bowel movement. Try it and you’ll see how laborious and ineffective sitting is.
But you need to start out with a good diet high in fiber, soluable and insoluable.

That’s crazy! Why the hell not? Please, I’m dying to know!

This might sound stupid But it worked for my son, who spent 4 days in the hospital because he was so blocked up, the Doc told him to sit on the pot every morning, at around the same time, and push like you have to go..even if nothing comes out you are training your bowels. It has worked for my son, it took him a few days but hasn’t had a problem since.

You can buy an over the counter enema called Fleet. Or you can take some lube like vaseline or KY, put it on your finger and stick it in your *ahem* you know where…good luck!

Can you drink coffee? That always seems to work for me.

ok, may sound gross but suppositories.

you can get the glycerin kind so it wouldn’t really have any meds in it that you can’t take.

I had to use when pregnant b/c I was anemic and had to be on huge amounts of iron.
