What is the best way to make yourself have a bowel movement w/o laxatives?

I am a little constipated, but I hate laxatives. What are some good ways to get everything "moving" again?

Drink prune juice or eat prunes. You can also use a fiber supplement like metamucil or citrucel. Glycerin suppositories are also good for occasional use. I would consider a fiber supplement routinely since it sounds like you have constipation from time to time.

    Fiber and dairy.

McDonald's fries also have that effect.

Fiber is easy to find in cereals, oatmeal, etc etc.

Eat something with fiber-fruits (bananas, plums, pears, especially-prune juice if you can stand it) this helps my son (who is 8 months)

You can add fiber to your diet. Apples are great. So are Prunes. However, you can eat sugar free candy and get the same effect, trust me! Also, you can take fiber pills if your not big on fresh vegetables and fruit.

Increase the fiber content in your diet and increase your water intake to at least 8 glasses a day. If you remain constipated for more than 3-5 days you need to see a doctor for possible blockage.

The fruits, fiber suggestions you're getting here are great. They will help a lot.

Are your stools too firm? If you have to strain to go, you might try a stool sotening gel tablet to make things more comfortable.
