Has anyone had a section of their bowel removed and repaired? If so, how has it affected you?

At 16 I had a strangulated bowel and they removed a section of it and repaired it. Apparently my ambilical cord didn't die off like it was supposed to a grew around my bowel, slowly strangling it as I grew. At 16 I had emergency exploritory surgery and it was discovered and repaired. I am now 43 and am having some issues that I am wondering if it has anything to do with this. I don't want to go into detail because I don't want to influence answers. I would appriciate open and honest replies about your experience. Thanks in advance!

I had a right hemicolectomy in when I was 23. I had diverticulitis (very rare at that age) and my colon ruptured and they removed my ascending colon and half of the transverse. It made me lactose intolerant. I get pains every once in a while and I was told that where my anastimosis is(where they hooked my colon to my small intestine) may one day have to be replaced. I'm 42 now.
