Does absence of a bowel movement for a number of days occur after a colonoscopy.?

Prior to a colonoscopy, laxatives are given to completely empty the colon. So, after the procedure, does it sometimes happen that it takes a few days to have a bowel movement?

It is highly likely seeing that they are cleaning you out totally. It does take food a while to digest, however if it is taking too long that could be a problem too.

I wouldn't be surprised if it took a few days afterwards for a BM.

This is very common, remember you emptied completely for the colonoscopy and ate nothing for almost 24 hours.
