Obesity in Children Is a Serious Issue
Obesity in kids is a serious condition and should be taken seriously. It is a serious health problem. It is a condition wherein the excessive fat in a child’s body affects his health adversely thus should be taken very seriously. How does one find out whether the child is obese or not? The answer to this question is very simple. One should find out the body mass index of the child and then decide. There is a set body mass index (BMI) for each age group set by the doctors. Look into that chart and find out whether the child is obese or not. The normal BMI for a child is 27.6. If it is more than that then the child is considered obese and this is an alarming situation for the parents. This should not be taken lightly and instant measures should be taken to overcome this problem. This problem basically arises in children due to overeating and lack of physical exercise.
Childhood obesity is mot a genetic problem. It is basically an outcome of excessive pampering given to the children in form of chocolates, ice creams and other fat containing products. It is thus the duty of the parents to be really very careful regarding the diet of their children and give them healthy stuff like more of fruits, juices and other green vegetables. Intake of water should be really high because water helps in flushing out all the toxin content of the body.
Make sure that the child plays maximum outdoor games and less of indoor games. Outdoor games help in burning the excessive fat and calories and make the child more active and energetic in doing day to day activities. Gift him games like football or badminton so as to divert his attention from indoor games and give him the opportunity to explore new games and learn more and more games. Take him to parks so that the child can see all children playing thus arousing the child’s interest in all such activities.
Obesity may lead to a multiple problems like diabetes or liver problems and even high blood pressure at an age like this. This may spoil the life of the child and even his future. Obesity apart from harming a child physically may even harm him mentally. The child may face a problem of teasing thus hampering the confidence of the child and even leading to inferiority complex in the child.
