How can I find out the source of an allergy?

I have never been allergic to anything ever but loaded with hives - I think they are - (raised itchy welts flesh pink colored) that isn't responding to typical itch creams or calamine. Do doctors test for certain things on my arm or something? Has anyone developed a new allergy later in life from something they never reacted to before? What was the source?

ya. when you are around a thing for a long time your body can build up an allergy to it.
heres how the doctors tested me:
they did this thing where they scratch you back with the allergen whatever one turns red and into a bump your allergic to
they gave me 22 shots under my skin with teh allergin and whatever ones turned into bumps i was allergic to.
they can also take blood. but if you think its a food allergy here is how you can test yourself:
take your pulse while relaxing. eat a certain food you eat a lot. 30 min after eating check your pulse again. if it is raised 10 or more points you are probably allergic to that.
