Asthma can escalate very quickly if severe, or if the "perfect storm" exists. Most people don’t realize it but asthma kills people each year - and many of them are found in their cars because they were trying to drive themselves to the pharmacy to refill their inhaler or to the emergency room. I know one woman who would have died in her apartment had her mom not called EMS, and a former neighbor lost her son last month secondary to an asthma attack.
